Teodora “Dory” M.
At the helm of Bullseye Marketing and Communications is industry veteran Teodora “Dory” Marasigan. A former president of the Philippine Marketing Association and Philippines representative to the International Marketing Federation, Dory strongly advocates strategy-based, customized research consulting--that is, “research designed to go beyond providing market insight, but rather research designed to provide sound decision points factoring in the unique context of the decision makers.”
Originally trained to be a chemical engineer, Dory discovered her passion for marketing research when she joined International Research Associations (INRA)--a UN-established research firm--as an intern. She joined client side in the 70’s as marketing research manager of Scott Paper, after which she established her own consulting firm, MACRO Inc., which she refers to as “the first incarnation of what is now Bullseye.”
“Being an entrepreneur myself makes the big difference in my consulting style,” explains Dory, who went to the Ateneo for her MBA. “Beyond engaging with the client as a supplier, I relate with the mindset of a co-business owner, and that is also how my team is trained to think and work as well. Relevant information is always needed yesterday, and you should never be trapped in the way things are usually done, but rather persist in discovering something significant you and your client didn’t know before, to make your research worth the investment.”
Like Dory, Ria has been immersed in marketing research even as a student. In the 1990‘s, she worked summers with Dory’s firm (then M&S International Business Consultants) as a field interviewer, data encoder and analyst, focus group discussion transcriptionist, and by the 2000’s began to lead projects specializing in qualitative research for retail clients.
She joined M&S full-time as research manager three years after earning a degree in Marketing, cum laude, from Assumption College and training in Ayala Land as a Marketing Management Trainee and in Unilever as a Customer Development Executive.
In 2005, Ria opted to pursue opportunities in marketing and corporate communications while retaining her status as project consultant with M&S, and subsequently, Bullseye. She is currently corporate communications manager of a leading BPO company, handling internal and external communications as well as global projects.
Erick’s first foray into market research consulting with Sigma Dos was in the mid 2000‘s, as a subject matter expert for a study on camera equipment usage and purchase habits among amateur photographers in the Philippines. His contributions to the project revealed a great match with the team, as he brought to the table his solid foundation as an academician as well as a communications consultant. His research projects with M&S - Sigma Dos included IT, pharmaceutical and retail.
Erick has a degree in Communications from Ateneo de Manila University, where he also taught in the tertiary level for several years. He pursued further studies in Asian culture at the University of the Philippines, and also taught college subjects in De La Salle University, Assumption College, St. Paul’s University and Letran.
Prior to his Singapore stint, Erick was a freelance communications professional and public relations writer which included three years of PR writing and account management with Zorrilla, Zorrilla and Associates.
He recently returned to the Philippines after being based in Singapore, where he did corporate/customer communications work with Singtel and Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore.
Now that Erick is back, he is resuming his consultancy service with BULLSEYE in addition to his first love, photography, both as a professional and a Manila Bulletin contributor.
